In order to receive the signal, the dish must have
a direct line of sight to in a particular direction. However, many types
of window glass degrade the satellite signal. Therefore, we strongly
recommend that you install your satellite dish outside in a suitable
location.
You must also consider the following when thinking
about installation:
- Check whether you need planning
permission, listed building consent or owner's/ landlord's consent.
It is your responsibility for
seeking, or not seeking, planning permission. If required, planning
permission should be granted before installation. Don't forget that you
are responsible for having it installed; poor sitting may lead the
council to require you to re-site the dish at your own expense.
- Check if there are other legal
requirements you have to consider when installing a dish.
Remember, you are ultimately responsible for the appropriate sitting of
satellite dishes; if you have any doubt, contact the planning department
of your local council or seek independent professional advice.
- Don't allow
a dish to be installed without first finding out whether or not you need
planning permission or listed building consent.
